Michael is Managing Director of Initative Homes and a Research Director within the Schumacher Institute. He brings considerable experience of systems thinking practice both in terms of physical and social systems.

He has an MSc in Aerospace Vehicle Design from Cranfield University. He joined the then Royal Aircraft Establishment and over a period of 22 years saw the organisation evolve into QinetiQ plc. During this time he fulfilled a number of role research and business roles that included operational research and applied systems in support of MOD procurement processes.

On leaving QinetiQ in 2010 he undertook a post graduate short course in Systems Thinking for Sustainability from the Open University.  He also has a keen interest in economics and resource depletion.

In addition to this, as a disabled person he brings considerable personal experience of accessibility issues associated with the built environment; not only terms of the physical aspects but also of the social and economic impacts that poor understanding of, and provision for, differing accessibility needs can have.
